Overview
I was responsible for the key visual design of Concept 2017, the annual lecture series for the graphic design department at California College of the Arts. The series introduced students to designers and working professionals. I developed Curiosity across branding, motion graphics, social banners, and posters.
Curiosity as a story
The 2017 theme was curiosity: a sense of danger mixed with enjoyment and fun. The story connects a cat named Cu, the mysterious lecturers, and an audience looking for clues.
Key visual and visual language
The key visual depicts the crime scene of Cu the cat, with cut-up letters from “Curiosity” acting as clues. The cat symbol and letter fragments form a visual language that extends into patterns and applications.
